Dr. Newell has been my surgeon for over 13 years and in that time I can tell you that there is no one that I trust with my health more than him. I have always appreciated his candid and direct approach, as well as his explanations, whether they be positive or negative. He is an outstanding surgeon. Unfortunately, given my unique situation, I am forced to keep him on standby, but will continue to do so, until the day comes where he elects to ride off into the sunset.

Dr. Newell is not only a skilled and very experienced neurosurgeon, he has the ability to put you at ease in the midst of a very stressful and difficult time. When we discovered earlier this year that my husband had a large aneurysm right in the middle of his brain, we were understandably worried and overwhelmed trying to make the right decision on treatment approach. After consulting several other surgeons and an interventional radiologist, it became clear that Dr. Newell was the most experienced, and the right one to trust with this type of surgery. We are so grateful to Dr. Newell and his staff (thank you Rahee!) for their excellent care of my husband. Dr. Newell took as much time as we needed to answer our questions in advance of the surgery and took several follow up phone calls before we made our decision. He was very patient and did not push his recommended approach, and answered all of our questions along the way. My husband made a complete recovery and we feel very grateful that he made it though this with no long term effects. Thank you Dr. Newell.

Dr Newell is an outstanding physician. He saved our daughter life. She has a very complex brain disease and he performed an amazing surgery. He very kind and very compassionate. Dr. Newell did a MVD for me 8 weeks ago and since i woke up from surgery i have been pain free. Dr. Newell is so kind and explains things well. His office staff is kind and quickly to respond to questions or needs. If anyone needs brain or spine surgery I would highly recommend Dr. Newell. Thanks for giving me back my life without pain. Ann

I was referred to Dr. Newell by a local neuroscience surgeon in my hometown. Apparently the brain surgery for a tumor removal was going to be complicated and required a surgeon with more experience in this area. I live about 800 miles from Seattle and was put in contact with Dr. Newell and his office. Many of the early tests and exams were conducted locally with consultation of Dr. Newell. When the time came we drove the 10 hours to Seattle for the surgery. I can tell you Dr. Newell and his staff were in constant communication and answered all of my questions quickly. The surgery went extremely well. I was expected to be in the hospital for 4 days with several weeks or months of recovery. The surgery went way better than expected. The tumor was 100% removed. I was only in the hospital for 2 days and pretty much back to work in 2 weeks. I highly recommend Dr. Newell.

I was diagnosed by two other doctors who each recommended a second fusion for my symptoms. I sought out Dr. Newell and he said he can relieve my pain and discomfort with a different less evasive procedure, and I now have as much if not more flexibility than I had prior to my injury just 5 weeks after surgery. Dr. Newell, Sarah and the entire staff win your trust over within the first 5 minutes of meeting them. The office is very fast at responding to questions and their customer service is top notch. While I was in the hospital, Dr. Newell and Sarah were able to visit daily to make sure I was comfortable and answered any & all questions we had. I would refer friends and family to the Seattle Neuroscience Institute in a heartbeat...I really can't imagine going anywhere else if something does happen to my brain again. The team gave me a second chance at enjoying my daily life and I will forever be thankful for that!

When it comes to back surgery, you want the best; that's why I traveled halfway across the United States to be under Dr. Newell's care. After suffering with hemi-facial spasms for 23 years I came across Dr. Newell's website and immediatly called for an appointment after watching a video on his website about the surgery that can cure my spasms. These spasms have ruled my life for so long I do not know why I put it off for so long. Dr. Newell and his staff were amazing. Learning you have a brain tumor that needs to be removed sooner than later is not an easy thing to except, especially when your a former elite athlete. Just had surgery with Dr. David Newell he had done my original surgery 2 years ago. I had a craniotomy since the AVM was so small. Afterwards pain persisted so this year DR went in removed my plates put new materials in to cover brain and long story short while this was done to relieve the persistent pain which it did. In addition to that my speech which was affected 2 years ago is 95% better it was totally amazing. We are so grateful, first of he saved my life then second of all the resolved my pain and thirdly got my speech back it doesn't get better than that. Plus his staff is over the top. I don't know how they achieved the paperwork feats they did but they did. They are a caring and compassionate group. Thank you again, Jim and Karen

On April 21, 2017 my husband experienced a gran maul seizure and then found out it was caused by a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM). We were referred to Dr. David Newell in Seattle. May 1st was our first appointment with him. We really felt comfortable and felt the compassion with the the information and explanations on the options for Steve. It was decided that we would go through with surgery on removing the AVM. On May 4th our lives changed. And for the better. Dr. Newell completed surgery to remove the AVM and with no complications. The care our family received from his staff was amazing. Yes, our family! Dr. Newell and staff made sure we all had our questions (and fears) answered before leaving the room. Spectacular care! ❤️
